Don Phillips is a native of Missouri He grew up on a farm, seven miles east of Salem, in Dent Co., near the Meramec River.  Don is a 1973 graduate of the College of the Ozarks where he majored in Physical Education and minored in Biology. He was inducted in the college's Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 after lettering all four years as a varsity basketball and baseball player. Don was the head basketball and baseball coach as well as athletic director at Hollister High School from 1973-1977.  While in college and while coaching, Don worked evenings during the summer as an actor at the Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama, playing the parts of "Young Matt" and "Wash Gibbs." He was the 1976 "Actor of the Year" as voted on by the cast.  On June 1, 1978, he entered the Missouri State Highway Patrol academy in Jefferson City as a recruit in the 47th recruit class where he served as class president.  Don went on to have a 28 year career in the Highway Patrol, retiring on June 1, 2006, with the rank of Sergeant.
